3 Reasons to Install Venetian Blinds in Your Bathroom

Blinds are an effective way to dress bathroom windows, and you need to choose the right products for this room. Bathrooms often have extra privacy and light control requirements. Their environments also affect blind materials.

If you aren't sure which blinds to install in your bathroom, then start by looking at Venetian blinds. Read on to learn about three benefits of this option.

1. Versatile Design Options

It isn't always easy to find a blind that fits in with your bathroom style and décor. Some blinds might be too plain; others might be too fussy.

You'll find it easier to source a Venetian blind that fits in with the way you want your bathroom to look. These blinds come in a variety of colours, styles and materials.

For example, you can find Venetian blinds that subtly blend into your bathroom's style. You can choose muted complementary colours to give your décor a seamless look across the room, or you can buy blinds that stand out more if you wish.

You can use different colours to turn your window into an accent piece. You can use different materials, such as faux wood, to give your blinds a classic look. You can even go with vertical-slat Venetians to make your blinds look a little different.

The way you hang Venetian blinds also makes a difference. While you can install a blind in your window's recess if you wish, you can also hang it further forward to line up with the wall around the window to create a distinctive look.

2. Effective Light and Privacy Control

If your bathroom windows are at eye level, then you might want to make it more private. Your window dressings help with this. However, if you also want to let in natural light, then some blinds won't work so well for you.

For example, a solid roller blind might block you from view to the outside world, but it might also block out a lot of light. If you use a lighter material colour that lets more light into the room, then the blind might become easier to see through especially when you have a light on in your bathroom.

Roller blinds work on an all-or-nothing coverage basis. The blind completely covers its window at any level. If you pull the blind up to let in more light, then people can see in through the bottom part of your window.

Venetian blinds give you more control over your privacy and incoming light. You can use their slats to control how open to the world your window is.

If you want complete privacy, you shut the slats completely, or if you want more light in the room, you can open the slats partway. Even if a Venetian blind's slats are fully open, you still get a degree of privacy at the window.

3. Robust Bathroom-Friendly Materials

Bathrooms create potentially difficult environmental conditions. They can be humid, steamy and hot. Humidity and steam can have negative effects on a blind's material.

For example, regular fabrics don't generally work well in bathrooms. They pick up moisture and stay damp. They then become a perfect home to mould. If you install wooden blinds, then the wood might start to warp out of shape if moisture gets inside it.

The materials used in Venetian blinds are usually much better able to cope with bathroom conditions. For example, you can buy blinds made from PVC and other plastics, aluminium, and faux woods, which are more water-resistant.

These blinds last longer and need less maintenance. You won't need to worry about water-related damage, and their slats are easy to dust or wipe clean.
