4 Reasons to Install Panel Glides in Your Home

4 Reasons to Install Panel Glides in Your Home

If you can't find curtains or blinds to suit your home, then panel glides are worth a look. These blinds hang from tracks on walls or ceilings. They contain individual panels which, when closed, cover windows, doors or other spaces. What are the benefits of panel glides?

1. Cover large windows and sliding doors

If you have large windows or doors, then you might find it hard to source the right dressings. Regular blinds and curtains might not fit, and you won't find it easy to get a cost-effective solution.

For example, regular blinds might block out too much light even when they are open. You might also struggle to find ready-made curtains to fit larger windows. So, you might have to custom-make curtains to fit. This often increases your costs.

If you want to dress large picture or patio windows or want to add privacy to folding door window walls, then panel glides are an effective and economical solution. Once you install the track, you simply need to add enough panels to cover the space.

2. Get blinds that are simple to use

Some blinds are harder and more time-consuming to operate than others. For example, if you install multiple roller blinds on large windows, then you have to roll each blind up or down to use them. If you're a perfectionist, you'll spend time getting all the blinds to the same level.

Panel glides are much easier to use. You simply push or pull the panels along their tracks. You can do this by hand or with a wand. The panels stack together as they move along the track, giving you a uniform and neat appearance whether you want the panels partly or fully open.

Plus, you can choose the best operating configuration for your needs here. You can have glides that open from the left or the right. You can even have them open from the centre of a window or from your doors. You choose the easiest option.

3. Make versatile design statements

Window dressings don't just give you light, privacy and temperature control. They can also enhance a room. While some people like their curtains or blinds to be subtle and unobtrusive, others want their window dressings to make design statements.

If you want to use something different from the norm, then panel glides are a perfect solution. While you can simply choose panels in colours and materials that suit your décor, you can also buy decorative products. When closed, these panels give your windows and doors a feature wall effect.

You can even set up these systems as room dividers. They can cover interior glass doors or create a floating blind to break up open-plan rooms.

Plus, you don't have to stick with one panel design. You can buy panels in different styles, materials and colours and switch them out when you want a change. This is also useful if you redecorate your room. If your current panels don't match, you can simply replace them with new ones that do.

4. Avoid safety hazards

You have to ensure that blinds and curtains are safe, especially if you have children. For example, blind cords or chains are a strangulation risk. You need to use safety products or add safety measures to them to avoid potentially fatal accidents.

Panels glides are a safe solution. They don't use cords or chains. They are also firmly attached to their tracks. So, kids won't get tangled up in them.

If you want to dress sliding or folding doors, then you can also configure your panels to move in the same direction as your doors. This makes it easier to move the panels completely out of the way of open doors. The panels won't be a trip or bump hazard.
